"20/20 Trust has operated the national Computers in Homes programme since 2001, helping more than 19,000 families build digital skills and confidence, connect to the internet and participate more fully in the digital world. In May 2016, the government advised that funding of the programme in its present form would not continue after 30 June 2017. In this document we outline our preparation for this transition and our view of the future for digital inclusion in New Zealand."

Classes at Haeata

This week, digital literacy classes have begun at Haeata Community Campus. This is a collaboration between Haeata, 20/20 Trust and GCSN (Greater Christchurch Schools Network.) A group of 8 parents are gathering in the library twice a week to learn more about the the world of the Internet, create CVs, email, etc. The content of the classes will be created around the needs of the participants. Their trainer is Mikaere Flavell, who is currently completing YR13 at Haeata. Mikaere is a technical whizz who loves to spend time building  building computers.

Purapura Whetu Graduation

The last graduation for the year took place at Purapura Whetu today, where 9 people graduated. Thanks to Toni and Rachel at PPW who have always been so supportive, and thanks to our wonderful trainer, Ria :)

At Bamford School this term, we experimented with a combined Computers in Homes, Stepping Up and KiwiSkills ICDL class. Three students were new, and 6 had already graduated from a CiH class. It worked fabulously and tutor Ria took it all in her stride :)
